We originally met when we were 13 and I moved schools (back in 1983).
We attended catechism classes together, and eventually started talking to one another during school time.
We became good friends, hanging out. When we were older, we worked together at McD’s and eventually became boyfriend and girlfriend. Not exactly sure why that ended, but both of us will admit that we never stopped thinking about one another.
I did a lot of moving around between graduation June 1988 and leaving the Army and returning to Michigan October 1996. I finally settled where I am now and remained in the same place for 16 years.
He also did a lot of moving around, but we never ran across one another or kept in touch. I would occasionally drop in and visit his mother, who would in turn tell him that I had stopped by.
We finally “found” one another again on Facebook September 2009. We chatted online and eventually set a coffee date. For the first time in many, many years we were to be face to face again.
The evening went very well, pretty much picking right up where we left off and catching up on the years.
We eventually compared time lines to see where one another was during all the years. SO many times we were within miles or even 200 yards of one another and not knowing it.
Where I lived for 16 years has a gas station across the road. Many times he would stop there to refuel when he went to visit his dad. Circumstances never brought us to meet. Until 2009.
We have been with one another ever since, knowing it was where we were supposed to be!
He proposed on December 23, 2011 at the same coffee shop we met at back in 2009. He said that that is where it began again for us and it seemed like the fitting location.
I, of course, couldn’t say no and we have set this July 7th as our wedding date!!
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL STORY JILL AND  ROY    ! THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING AND BEST OF LUCK!!!

Hello! I’m Natalie and my fiance Matt and I are due to wed on April 21st of this year. We are so excited! Our story hasn’t always been a fairytale. After discovering I was pregnant very early in the relationship we endured some bumps in the road, but with the love and support of our friends and family and the grace of God, we are happier than ever. On July 23rd, 2011 in a beautiful park in our hometown, Matt proposed under an arbor with the most gorgeous princess cut solitare! We can’t wait to walk down the aisle, with the most precious flower girl – our 15 month old daughter Viv. I was born on Halloween and when I take Matt’s last name I will be Natalie Treat…there’s just no denying that we are meant to be

Marissa found out that she was accepted in to MSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine on the Wednesday before the proposal. Travis was so excited and proud of her that he told her that on Friday he was taking her out to “wine and dine” her. On Friday, Travis picked her up and ate dinner at the Stillwater Grill in Okemos, MI. Afterward, Marissa assumed they were going to head to Farm House (Trav’s Fraternity) because she knew some of his old friends were in town. When they didn’t head that way Marissa asked where they were going. Travis explained that he was so proud of her and he had booked a hotel room where they could rent movies, go swimming and just hang out for once. Marissa was thinking it was kind of strange but chalked it up as one of Travis’s attempts to be “romantic.” Travis opened the door of the hotel and led Marissa into the pitch black where he started dancing with her. Then he stopped and said “Marissa we have so much to be thankful for”. Travis began to pray for both of them talking about how they were both blessed to have wonderful, caring families and then ended with please bless my new fiancé. Marissa’s head shot up at that and Travis turned on a black light. On the wall in fluorescent paint (only seen with black light) it said “Marry Me?” and Marissa saw Travis on his knee. After the sobs (of joy ( : ) ended she finally could say yes! …Immediately the two left to go tell Marissa’s family!! …. So if you’re ever staying in a hotel in Okemos and have a black light … Its still on the wall!!
Travis did ask Marissa’s father and grand-father for permission to marry her!!
THANKS FOR SHARING MARISSA AND TRAVIS, I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU ALL!! BEST OF LUCK.

This particular weekend had been planned weeks in advance. For roller coasters. Harrison and I had made plans to go to Cedar point on the 13th of August with some good friends. But as luck would have it (Good luck for me, since a) I don’t like roller coasters and b) this would be a weekend I will never forget), the weather forecast for the weekend mentioned nothing but rain.

So we cancelled our trip. With a free weekend now available, we thought let’s just go somewhere! It’s not very often I get entire weekends off, so we started coming up with different ideas as to where to go. Among the discussion, Harrison’s parent’s mentioned they had a room up on Mackinac Island if we wanted, it was ours! Deal!

So Saturday morning comes around and off we go! The entire ride up was nothing but rain, but we were on vacation and took in every moment. When we arrived to the boat dock that would take us to the island, we were just seconds from catching the ferry. Before I even realized what was happening, we were loaded onto the ferry, taken for a choppy ride across the water, and onto the island.

When we got to the Island our bags were taken up to our hotel, while we had lunch at a local pub some soup and sandwiches. We walked what seemed miles in a drizzling rain to our hotel. Once in our room, we discovered our bags had yet to be brought up. Harrison got anxious, wondering if he should go look for them. I told him I’m sure they would be up any moment, just relax. But of course he insisted on going off to look for them. Just as he was heading out the door, our bags were coming down the hall! Yes! Dry clothes!

After getting washed up and dressed, the rain had stopped so we decided to go for a walk around downtown. Despite the couple drops of rain here and there, checking out all the cool shops was great. Toward the edge of town we saw the prettiest entrance to the Carriage House. So we made dinner reservations and continued walking around.

When dinnertime rolled around, we were ready to eat! It was such a pretty restaurant with a piano player playing music right behind us. It was perfect for us because we love listening to live music. The food was wonderful and the desert was even better! We relaxed just listening to music and nibbling on our desert. It was so peaceful!

When we finished our dinner we walked outside to discover that the sun was coming just enough to shine a rainbow across the water next to the restaurant’s park. I pointed it out and Harrison pulled me out closer to the waters edge so we could see it better. As we stood there, he took my hand and turned to look at me. With a smile on his face, he says he loves me. I looked back and him and next thing I realize he’s on his knee. Through giant tears of overwhelming joy, I say yes! It was a moment to overwhelming with joy and excitement; I will never forget the feeling. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful man in my life!

This past new year’s eve, my boyfriend of 9 years made me the luckiest girl in the world – he proposed!! We were with some friends getting ready to celebrate the new year when my boyfriend, Patrick, told me to follow him. We went outside and into the yard where I began to kiss him. I pulled away and told him that was the last kiss of the year. He said he didn’t think it would be. And while I tried to play coy he dropped to one knee, pulled out a little black box, opened it to reveal a beautiful diamond solitaire ring, and asked me to marry him!!! I was so shocked the first thing I said was “Really?!?” Followed by “Yes, of course!” And then he put the ring on my shaking finger and I smothered him with more kisses. When he pulled back he smiled slyly and said, “told you it wouldn’t be the last kiss…” We ran into the house and told our friends the exciting news! There were tears, laughs, hugs, and congratulations said, as we gathered into the living room and waited for the clock to strike midnight and the ball to drop. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the new year. It will definitely be one I will always remember!

THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR STORY MICHELLE AND PATRICK!! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!! 🙂

Last summer, I traveled to Tanzania to volunteer in an orphanage teaching
Math and English to young children. It was the opportunity of a lifetime and I was
so excited to embark on a new adventure in my life, the only problem standing in
my way was leaving my boyfriend behind for a whole summer. It was difficult to say
goodbye at the airport but we both new it was for the best and besides it was only a
couple of months apart.

Three days into the trip, I finally was able to talk to him and it was unlike any
other phone conversation I’ve had before. Throughout the first month we talked as
much as our phone bills could handle and then one day I was at an Internet café
when I received an email message from Bret. He told me that he just booked a flight
to Africa and would be joining me in Tanzania for my last week of travels. I literally
jumped for joy in the café and everyone started clapping, including the locals who
had no idea what this American girl was doing.

On August 19th Bret arrived in the Kilimanjaro Airport and ran into my arms
as we met in the lobby. I think we both had tears of happiness in our eyes but could
barely speak a word to each other. We then boarded a plane an hour later to
Zanzibar, which is off the coast of Tanzania on the Indian Ocean. It’s a gorgeous
island with white sandy beaches and crystal clear blue water. It is a predominately
Muslim island and they were in mid celebration of the Ramadan holiday. We had a
difficult time finding a taxi driver since it was close to sun down and the locals take
a rest to finally eat a meal for the day. Almost everything on the island shuts down
for an hour and we found ourselves doing the same thing at a gas station. What we
didn’t know was that we were about to experience the scariest taxi ride of our lives.
Our driver was an elderly man who couldn’t see well at night and almost hit ten
pedestrians, while also pulling off the road because his directions were sketchy.
After three hours of heart-pounding driving we made it to our bungalow and I
looked over at Bret who was completely horrified on his first night in an unfamiliar
land.

The next day, we spent our afternoon lounging on the beach and then Bret
asked if we could get dressed up for a fancy dinner overlooking the ocean. After we
got all ready we made our way to the restaurant and had a beautiful table with the
sun setting right in front of us. It was magical. We then decided to take a walk down
to the water after dinner but the tide had risen and there was nowhere to walk.
Instead we headed back to our bungalow, which was ironically room 24(our favorite
number) and I could tell Bret was a little shaky. I thought maybe he was annoyed
with me because I wanted to lie down and go to bed even though it was only
7:30pm. He kept trying to pull me in for a kiss underneath the beautifully starlight
sky but I was more focused on getting back to the room so I could get some sleep.
When we got back to the room he stood by the doorway and asked if I would stand
up but I said “why don’t you just lie down and we can talk”. When I started to realize
what was going on I abruptly stood up and he got down on one knee. He reached
into his pocket and pulled out a ring box with a letter and asked for my hand in

marriage. The moment was perfect in every way. I later found out that he had the
ring in his pocket all day but I kept ruining the perfect moment, which is typical for
me. We spent the rest of the vacation enjoying the scenery, culture, and company of
one another. Bret also got the chance to meet the kids at my orphanage and we hope
to go back and teach together someday.

COUPLE #8 AMANDA + PAUL

Here is AMANDA + PAUL’S  story!  If you would like to vote for them – first become a fan of the two links below. And then on the final link – like their picture and story on the contest page.  So follow these three steps.

3. Vote for AMANDA+ PAUL here after you have done the first two steps AMANDAPAUL

Since the day that I met Paul he has been my best friend. A friend when I needed one, a friend to complain to, to share laughs and hugs, and successes. He has always put my needs and wants and feelings in front of his own. He is interested in the things that I enjoy (bike rides, going to the beach), and understands that my family is the
most important thing to me. He cheered me in through my graduating semester of school, reassured me when I began looking for my career, and above all else, made the precious little time  we had together special (both of us now work third shift). So, that being said, I thought nothing of it when he planned a weekend trip for us. We had both been so busy working that time together was seldom and  having  alone time was even less likely to occur. He did not tell me where we were going, only told me what to pack. It wasn’t until we put the address in the gps that I found out our destination was Mackinac Island. The whole drive up I knew we were going to have an amazing time. He got us an amazing hotel room with a giant jacuzzi and we spent the whole first night getting dinner and watching the Tiger’s game (one of our favorite things since the tiger’s game was our first date)!  The next morning he said he had all these special things planned. And he did! Amazing for a man to plan-right?! We hopped on the ferry and he rented bikes for us. We took our own personal tour of the island. We hiked and climbed and biked and explored. When we stopped on the pebble beach to take a break I noticed how strange he began acting. I shook it off. Maybe he was tired? He put his arms around me for what seemed like  forever. And then, so amazingly unexpectedly to me, he began telling me how much I mean to him, how happy I have made him. Like a movie playing in front of me, I was being propose to by the most amazing and loving man! All girls picutre this wonderful speech being made  to them-and it was perfect!!! I had no words and basically was still so surprised “Really? Really?? REALLY? Shut up, are you serious!?” Was all that I could get out!! I was shaking and smiling and crying and laughing! “YES! Oh my gosh YES!!!!!” It was the most intimate and wonderful and beautiful thing I could have ever imagined! This picture means so much to me because I will never forget how this perfect moment, on an amazingly beautiful day was planned for me by my incredible man. I called my family moments later and they explained how Paul had come over and asked their permission, and they knew all along!!

THANKS FOR SHARING AMANDA AND PAUL!  BEST OF LUCK

Thank you everyone that shared your beautiful story! They were so fun to read!!!  So happy for all of you and wish you many years of happiness!!
