By Jamie May Photography: I am so behind on my blog post this year. I had a FULL wedding season and a lot of other sessions. This wedding was back in August (wow, I am really behind). I first met Akeem at Fit Body Boot Camp, where he is a trainer. Everyday he brings the energy and is looking out for the best interest of the people he is helping. It is no wonder years previous, he caught the eye (or vice versa) of Anna! Anna is delightful, too! She was so easy to work with. For me it all started when Akeem asked me to come take pictures when he proposed to her! That is always so awesome to be a part of!!!!! So I was thrilled when Akeem and Anna asked me to be their photographer for their wedding!!! Akeem and Anna are so positive and so full of energy. Needless to say, the wedding, reception and all the time in between was a blast! We did have rain through most of the day, but found little spots to make pictures work out, and really in most of the pictures you wouldn’t even know it was raining. The rain did take a few intermittent breaks. A few of my favorite pictures happened that day, one of them being the group of guys videoing the garter removal. Ha! Akeem and Anna, wishing you many more years!!! Everything was perfectly, perfect on your wedding day!!! xoxoxo
Jamie May Photography: I love this spot for a wedding, this little county park is tucked away in Robinson Township, Connor Park. Kathi and Jeff had a beautiful day with a little rain to make an amazing sky and sunset. I became quiet teary, watching these two say their vows and share their first dance. They are super, adorable. The wedding and dinner was just perfect with their closest family and friends. Thankful to have been a part of it! Congratulations Kathi and Jeff!
By Jamie May Photography: Melissa and Brian got married! I love when I get a referral from a previous client and get to see the whole crew all over again! I love these ladies. I have had so much fun getting to know them better and join with them in their celebrations!!! This was the first time I have been to the Hitching Post. It is a very cute location for a wedding, what is a bonus about this space is they have a rain back up inside, a little chapel. I also appreciate when everything is at one location and their is so much beauty around us for pictures. I am so happy for you both, Melissa and Brian. Wishing you many more happy years!!!
By Jamie May Photography: You always can confirm it is a small world, when think you are meeting people that wouldn’t know you or your family since they are not from Grand Rapids, and you start conversation and find out their oldest son was friends with your cousin! All of this being unknown to any of us at the time. That being said, the whole day felt like we were among friends. We had such a wonderful time!!! It was the first time I have photographed a wedding at the Bissell Tree House . This was a lovely location. We even got to pet a snake and a rabbit! I am thrilled for this sweet couple. I especially loved how everyone danced down the aisle for the processional. Too fun!!
Wishing you the very best! x0x0x
By Jamie May Photography: What a great day with Nicole and Rob! They got married at St. Patrick’s Church in Grand Haven. Then we heading over to Lake Michigan and then to the Spring Lake Country Club. Rob and Nicole are wonderful to work with. They are fun, happy, and Rob is always cracking a joke. I love how they walked into the reception hall, following being announced, and went right to their choreographed dance. Everyone then joined and the dancing started immediately for about 15 minutes before dismissal for speeches. Otherwise, I am unsure if you would have successfully removed anyone off the dance floor! It was quite the dance party, which I love! I am so happy for the two of them. And let’s not forget about the bridesmaids gold dresses, eh?!!? Gorgeous! So thankful to be a part of your day! x0x0x0
By Jamie May Photography : Another beautiful wedding in the books! Brian and Emilie are such a sweet couple! Their family and friends were so happy and smiley, too! Everyone welcomed us and made us feel a part of the family. They decided to have their wedding at Bilmar Restaurant in Grand Haven on the beach. This is a quaint reception site with beautiful views. I love the smiles that crossed Emilie and Brian’s face, the first time he saw her in her dress, and Emilie was glowing. There were a lot of tears of joy for these two. I feel so honored to have been a part of this wedding. They also used one of my favorite cake venues, Grand Finale out of Grand Haven. Wishing you many more years!!! x0x0x0x
By Jamie May Photography: We had a beautiful April wedding this year with an awesome couple! Well I am kind of biases because they are family. I am so happy for you Hilary and Jon. I loved everything about your wedding: your dress, your flowers, your details and most of all the company. I am glad I could be a part of your wedding. One of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer is I get to spend the whole day with the couple and share in their joy and happiness. Wishing you many, many more years of the love that was radiating that day! x0x0x0x
By Jamie May Photography: Rain, rain go away! Some days are like that. I was so thrilled that despite the weather we had a fantastic day with Ben and Abby. First off, these two are so pleasant and fun to be around. I love Ben’s sense of humor. And Abby’s gentle, kind spirit. They made us feel like part of the family all day! They also picked out a beautiful venue, Watermark Country Club, that helped make the pictures awesome, even though the weather never cooperated. I love the venue. There is an open floor plan with lots of windows. In addition, the venue has a great space to work with outside in the rain! Another benefit after photographing over a 100 weddings is that we are ready for any challenge that may come our way. I am so happy for Ben and Abby. They first connected at a Ranch that their families have been going to for years. I think over 9/10ths of the wedding guest were from this place! The sense of community was awesome. There were so many touching moments throughout the night, including the ‘best man’ speech. I definitely got choked up and had tears at that point!!! Wishing you both many more happy years!!!! x0x0x0x
By Jamie May Photography: Katelyn and James had a record high day for their wedding! It was January 21st and Michigan decided to be sunny, warm and beautiful! We started at Katelyn’s parents house for some getting ready pictures. After that we headed to Holy Spirit Church for the first look. I loved when James saw Katelyn of the first time! You can tell he just adores her. After the ceremony, we hopped on the party bus. They have such a fun group of friends and family; there were lots of laughs. I was thrilled with some of the spots they picked out for pictures. The pine trees and the pretty white fence looked fantastic with the bridesmaids dress. We also headed over to Rockford where we ended our pictures. The reception site, St. George Banquet Center, had just been remodeled; literally a day before! The center looked fantastic! I loved all of Katelyn’s details and decorations. I also enjoyed hearing how they met at such a young age and Katelyn, would drive him around because she is a little older than him. Haha! James will be blessed with two brother in laws that seemed to be very fond of him and also enjoy picking on him! Those are the best kind of brothers! Wishing you two the very best!!! xoxox
By Jamie May Photography: This was the first time I have ever been to Thornapple Pointe Golf course for a wedding. The facility and grounds were absolutely stunning on this picture perfect fall day. Megan and Matthew are so adorable. I loved the way they looked at each other and how excited they both were. We started the day with Megan’s getting ready pictures and then headed straight to the golf course where Matthew and Megan did their first look. I love how he gave her the biggest bear hug ever! And how about those clouds in the sky?! Awesome. We then made our way around the golf carts and rode the carts that know how to drive themselves. Apparently, I have not been golfing in a while, but the carts don’t allow me to fly over hills anymore. We stopped on a hill that gave a breath taking view of the water and all the beautiful fall colors in Michigan! What a fantastic day. Megan and Matthew’s friends are a riot. We had so much fun with them on the party bus and throughout the day taking pictures. We had lots of laughs when we threw Matthew up in the air. Megan and Matthew started the dancing off right, with a elegant first dance. I was so blessed to be a part of their beautiful fall wedding day! Many best wishes to you both!
