By Jamie May Photography:   I met with Julia and her dad one day to learn more about her wedding, where I was told the reception would have a lot of festive activities to bring in both cultures.  I was so excited to see what this meant!  As you can see Jose’s family traditions include:  pinning money to the bride and groom and some chair lifting, knock the groom over, game and then of course the traditional garter toss and first dances, etc.   It was a fun filled night.  I loved that they did a first look, and we had so much time to walk around the charming, downtown area of Muskegon. We also had a fair share of time St. Mary’s Catholic church, to photograph the bride and groom with some of the architecture and stain glass windows inside.  As you can see from the pictures, this was a fun crowd, who made all my ideas come even more to life!!  I was so blessed to be a part of you Julia and Jose’s wedding day!!!  Wishing you many more wonderful years of marriage!!  xoxx0x0x

 

 

Michigan Weddings | Jamie May Photographer

By Jamie May Photography: I have known Lisa and Jeff, parents of the groom for some time, they were trusting, open-minded people that trusted a girl, young in her 20s to sell their home.  They are so uplifting and kind, and I was thrilled when Erica, the bride, reached out to me to photograph their  wedding.  It is always nice to have referrals from friends and family; really it is the only way that you can be sure you are doing a good job for people.  To me, referrals are one of the kindest acts shown to me with being self-employed, because you then know people care about you, too.  That being said, the day was like hanging out with family, I love all the familiar faces and catching up with them all.  Erica has been the most ambitious bride I have seen yet. She was savvy in her wedding planning. She found a wonderful spot for all the lodging and the wedding and reception to take place, with beautiful views of Lake Michigan.  I also am a big fan of these three things: 1. White tent weddings 2. Weddings and Receptions at the same location 3. And beautiful flowers.  All the above were true of this wedding.  These curly things you see in the wedding flowers….. yeah, those are real. It is called curled ferns. So cool.  Wishing you both many more happy years, I am so excited for the both of you!!! xoxoxo

By Jamie May Photography:  What a great way to start off the wedding season with Mark and Diane.  We also got a pretty decent day for April in Michigan.  I am always happy when we can get outside for some pictures.  I am so happy for Mark and Diane, they made us feel right at home.  I loved that all of their family had a dance routine for the first dances. Muskegon Country Club Wedding Receptions | Jamie May Photography

By Jamie May Photography:  Another stunning wedding and reception.  The girls got ready at the Shoreline Inn in Muskegon which is right along the marina. It is a great hotel and the Lake House is right next door which is my favorite restaurant.  I love looking at all the boats there and sitting on the patio.   Jessie is such a beautiful girl inside and out.  It was a pleasure to spend time with her and her family and friends.  The wedding was at St. Mary’s in Muskegon.  What a beautiful church and the priest was awesome!  He had so much personality.  I just LOVE his expression in the first kiss photo. It is one of my all time favorites! We then headed over to Pier Marquette Beach in Muskegon.  It was a bright, sunny, hot day.  But we had a fun time on the beach. I love my job that I get to see the beach all through the summer. I spend most nights there.   The reception was at the Muskegon Country Club. I love the views here too.  Plus, the country club has a lot of natural light coming in which makes the pictures look nicer.  The party favors were so cute. You could take home your own succulent plants, this also was how your name was displayed to find your table.  She also had some beautiful linens which is a good way to boost up the decorations in a more affordable way.  The band was awesome. I especially LOVED when they played Love Shack because the man vocals nailed it and had lots of expression!!  The first dance was perfect to ALL OF ME.  I, especially, love when the couple has a dance routine.  Thanks so much for hiring me to be a part of your day!!!  My daughter said you look like Ken and Barbie because you are such a beautiful couple! Muskegon Weddings | The Lake House Receptions | Jamie May Photography

By Jamie May:   I don’t know how I always get such kind couples to photograph, but I do!   Jen and Jim are so easy to get along with and we were always laughing and having fun.  I love when you sit down at an interview and you just feel like you are sitting down with old friends; Jen and her mom are awesome!   We started the wedding day at a church in Muskegon and then headed over to Heritage Landing and then to the Lake House in Muskegon. I love the Lake House. The food is great there and it is so pretty with all the natural light from the windows and the breathtaking views.  Jen and Jim picked a variety of cakes from a gal from Chicago — yes, that is bacon on the cake. I did not try it, but I heard it was good!  Thank you so much Jen and Jim for hiring me to photograph your wedding!!! So happy for the both of you!!!!! Stay in touch. Heritage Landing

by Jamie May:  I just LOVed everything about this wedding and reception.  St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Muskegon was gorgeous!  I loved all the old architecture. The lighting was so beautiful and we had such a perfect day.  We then finished at the Lake House for the reception, which is my FAVORITE restaurant.  So I was totally excited about that. Plus, it is right on the marina.  So awesome views and wonderful food, and wonderful company made for a great wedding. Mary and Thomas are such a sweet couple. I also appreciate how willing Thomas is to take pictures.  We had such a smooth day, Mary put together a wonderful timeline.  Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your beautiful day!

We had a wonderful day with Angela and Matt!  They were so cute after the ceremony, they couldn’t keep their eyes off each other.  They also had an awesome dance that was amazing.  They did such a great job.  We had a great dinner and the toast was very moving  as well, lots of tears in the room.  All in all it was a great day!  Thanks so much Angela and Matt for a great day.

We had a chance of rain the whole day and it held off until midnight! I was so happy!!  Everything was planned to be outdoor so it was quite a relief.  Felecia and Cody had so many great ideas. I remember when I sat with them, they were planning on using a pinwheel theme! I just love how it all came together. All the details were beautiful. The wedding and reception took place at Above and Beyond in Muskegon, MI.

We had such a great time and I was so happy to be a part of their day.

I first met Ashlie and Andrew because of the wedding walk in Grand Haven. They won the engagement prize!  I was so honored when they asked me to be their wedding photographer too.  This was the first time I went to the Muskegon Country Club! It was fantastic there. Very pretty!!!  I love when the wedding party came in from being announced and did some fun things – like spiking the flowers like a football!   Andrew and Ashlie are a super sweet couple, kind, and considerate!  We are so blessed to get such awesome couples and to be able to share in their special day!
